As is known to all, the goal of learning languages is convenient for people to have better communication. Therefore in the process of language education, people generally pay a lot of attention to listening and speaking. In real life, however, many students go abroad to study a second language. In addition, reading a lot of foreign language books is also an important way to improve one's second language level. Therefore, in the actual learning process, "reading" should be given sufficient attention.During the investigation, I learnt that for South Korean students studying Chinese, there exists the question of segmentation in the process of reading Chinese. It not only causes the students to misunderstand the original meaning, but also impedes their ability to improve their reading. Therefore the correct grasp of the Chinese segmentation goes hand in hand with the ability of the students'reading. The problem generally widespread among the South Korean students is subject-predicate segmentation. This kind of situation mainly appears in long reading processes. In Korean, people usually make a pause after a conjunction. The reason for this is the influence of the mother tongue. When reading Chinese Korean students often make a pause after the conjunction. When the conjuctionå’Œis used South Korean students usually make a pause after it instead of before it as the Chinese do. The reason for this is the influence of the Korean mother tongue. This mother tongue influence is also the reason for the above mentioned subject predicate segmentation. Both wrong segmentations affect the students' reading proficiency. In this dissertation, I analyse the problem South Korean students face when learning to read and speak Chinese and give advice how to improve this learning. The dissertation consists of four chapters:the first chapter discusses the research significance of the topic, the research done until now and the content and methods of my research. The second chapter is about the segmentation (pause) and the theory explaining this. The third chapter analyses the problem of the segmentation. The fourth chapter, describes the preparation of a teaching plan based on my investigation to correct the wrong segmentation by South Korean students. It is necessary to remind the students to focus on the correct position of the segmentation and the importance of practising how to read properly.
