Hundreds of years have passed since the theory of poetry Melongma was firstly translated into Tibetan in thirteenth century. And the theory has been developed well by a numerous explanatory notes or publications of it that written by those great Tibetan scholars of old generation. To be a learned person one must study this subject because poetics is one of Tibet's Five Minor Sciences and as it is also theoretically taught for generation to generation, and is widely spread across Tibet. Therefore, not only monasteries, the modern schools of tertiary education have chosen it for a must learn subject as well. However, the main idea of Melongma is much related to the ancient Indian culture since it is written by Yugpajan, the great teacher of poetry, who was an Indian and it is, thus, difficult to understand for the Tibetan beginners today. Having the idea of eliminating the difficulties with an understanding of Indian culture in mind, I tend to study for a first-hand analysis of the idea of Four Great Things since it had been rarely mentioned by the great scholars who had written explanatory notes of Melongma. Even what they had mentioned is simply about the topics of Buddhist Four Great Things and is far related to the fundamentals of the theory of Melongma. Therefore, an analysis for a better clarification of its meaning and understanding is must be given. This paper has three parts. In part one, Tibetan notes of Melongma were not taken into consideration while studying the idea of the Four Great Things and the writer was focusing on the origin of the theory and analytical works of it at all times to introduce every idea of the Four Great Things from the viewpoint of ancient India. By addressing the differentiations between the idea of Melongma and the Four Great Things, the relationship between the Four Great Things and ideas is also addressed. Chapter one of part two clearly discusses the four Vedas of ancient India to state how the idea of the Four Great Things is included in the ideas of the Vedas. The chapter two of part two discusses how the idea of the Four Great Things is related to the four stages of Brahmin such as home stage; ordination stage; practicing stage and yoga stage and what causes the relation. Chapter three of part two makes a clarification for the idea of the Four Great Things through a gracing viewpoint of ancient Indians. Part three discusses how Tibetan note takers would change the definition of the idea of the Four Great Things after Melongma had been spread in Tibet and depending on this Melongma once developed well. In a word, the paper discusses or clarifies that the idea of the Four Great Things is related to Buddhism is made by the Tibetan note takers on purpose, but the original idea of Melongma is related to either the exotic Vedas, the traditional culture of ancient India, or it is also related to the culture of exotic Brahmins.
