Theory of development in the appraisal of teachers is widely recognized around the world. It is characterized by the concern for the professional development of teachers, and it is future career-oriented. Compared to the traditional summative teacher appraisal, it is more scientific, more comprehensive; the most important is that it is more humane, so its effect is more pronounced. The reason that I put my focus on N school is that it is the largest education and technology group in China. To some extent, it represents the highest level of the private education currently, it is quite typical. I study teacher appraisal system of N school in the perspective of theory of development in the appraisal of teachers. It largely compensates the deficiency of which is too little research on private but too much on public school. In the course of the study, I entered the school personally as long as nigh months, and I worked not only as a teacher but also as an administrator. I had many deep thought regardless of the teaching or administration, and gained valuable first-hand information. I have both the advantage to the theoretical research and practical operation, and I hope I can draw some insights.The main content of this study is the teacher appraisal system of N school and do research in the perspective of theory of development in the appraisal of teachers. It includes the following aspects specifically:1) What is the teacher appraisal system and method? 2) What are the concrete implements of teacher appraisal process? 3) What is the attitude of teachers and administrators about teacher appraisal? 4) What is the function of teacher appraisal? What is the relationship between teacher appraisal and teacher professional development? 5) Is it reflected the idea of development in the appraisal of teachers?The paper includes four parts. In the first part, I describe the background, purpose, significance, and research methodology and core concepts. In the second part, I analysis and describe the status research in this area at home and abroad. In the third part, I get to know the methods and process of teacher appraisal in N school through interviews, personal experience, observation and other methods. In the last part, by using the theory of development in the appraisal of teachers, I analysis the strengths and weaknesses of N school teacher appraisal, and make some recommendations.
