The Investigation And Research On Subject Service Platform Of Academic Library

Subject service is a new service pattern and mechanism adopted by university libraries in response to the changes of users'requirement under modern information environment. Subject service platform is not only the important media between subject user and subject librarian, but also the powerful guarantee of service development. Through this platform, librarian provides subject resources, tools and services; user gains needed information in favor of scientific research and teaching. Based on literature and field investigation of subject service platform, this paper constructs an open, interactive and powerful framework of a one-stop subject service platform, so as to cover the shortage of the current platform and provide reference for its improvement.Firstly, this paper gives a comprehensive view of subject service platform by literature survey and analytical inductive method. Secondly, with 31 renowned domestic and overseas university libraries as the study object, the comparison and analysis of the application situation of the platforms especially LibGuides is shown. Thirdly, the paper puts forward an ideal, concise and service-oriented function framework which allows multi-user collaboration, content management and information sharing. The one-stop subject service platform consists of five functional modules. The subject gateway module implements information navigation, integration retrieval, selective dissemination of information service and individual portal. The reference service module includes knowledge base, real-time and asynchronous reference service. The information literacy module realizes lecture management, self-training, user feedback and curriculum study. The backstage management module performs effective management of user layer modules, and utilizes feedback mechanism and real-time monitoring to upgrade service quality and platform function. The personalized service module is embedded into other modules, in order to achieve positive interaction of user and librarian.The development of subject service platform has a bright and optimistic future. With the application of ontology and semantic net and with the development of intelligent and multimedia technology, the subject service platform will truly realize its individualization and professionalization, becoming the place where user can obtain subject information, open his mind and solve problem.
