The variable gauge computerized flat knitted machine is the mainstream modelsintroduced to the market by the abroad flat knitting machine manufacturer. Thevariable gauge computerized flat knitted machine with a multifunctional benefits,improved the production flexibility of sweater. But the research on variable gaugecomputerized flat knitted machine is still in the initial stage in China, the explorationon principles and key technical features of variable gauge computerized flat knittedmachine is not enough, the product development model is mainly by the way ofimitation and lack of self-knowledge property rights and core technologies.Application of modern mechanical design technology, speed up R&D design ofvariable gauge computerized flat knitted machine’s principle and technology toimprove the design level will take some practical significance for the development offlat knitted machine industry.In this paper, based on the in-depth research and analysis of variable gaugecomputerized flat knitted machine’s structure and looping principle. Use the UGsoftware to do a three-dimensional modeling study and emphasis on kinematic anddynamic simulation analysis of loop mechanism. Through the correspondingexperimental study to compare the variable gauge computerized flat knitted machineand the general computerized flat knitting machine’s knitting effect, verified thecorrectness of kinematics simulation and dynamic analysis of variable gaugecomputerized flat knitted machine’s looping mechanism based on UG, provide atheoretical basis for the variable gauge computerized flat knitted machine’soptimization and design. The main content of the paper as follows:(1) Analysis of the variable gauge computerized flat knitted machine’s loopingmechanism’s composition and weaving technology and emphasis on the analysis of character and working principle of looping mechanism, then using the method ofmodeling to analysis variable gauge computerized flat knitted machine’s tensioncontrol conditions;(2) Through the corresponding experimental study to verify the correctness ofvariable gauge knitting performance of variable gauge computerized flat knittedmachine. Knit7G,9G,11G needle gauge of fabric respectively on the variable gaugecomputerized flat knitted machine, then compare the variable gauge computerized flatknitted machine and the general computerized flat knitting machine’s knitting fabriceffect, to verify the correctness of variable gauge knitting performance;(3) Study on elastic dynamics of the needle with cams of the looping mechanism,analyzed the process of force between the needle and cams in the variable gaugecomputerized flat knitted machine weaving process;(4) Study on the modeling method of variable gauge computerized flat knittedmachine’s looping mechanism based on UG. Analyzed the question about definedmaterial properties, set the type of contact, model assembly method, UG/renderingPost processing, simulation solution of setting in the modeling process of loopingmechanism, get the ideal three-dimensional effects model of looping mechanism;(5) Try to use the UG/Motion analyzing the dynamic of variable gaugecomputerized flat knitted machine’s looping mechanism and through simulation getthe needle’s curves of the displacement, velocity and acceleration in process ofknitting. And verify the results of the UG/Motion analysis are consistent withtheoretical analysis.This paper focuses on the variable gauge computerized flat knitted machine’sstructure and looping principle in-depth research and use the UG software to do athree-dimensional modeling study and dynamic simulation analysis of loopmechanism. Then through the experimental analysis compares the similarities anddifferences between traditional theory analysis and modern analysis methods. Usemodern technology analysis the rationality and feasibility of the variable gaugecomputerized flat knitted machine’s looping mechanism in order to improve theunderstanding of the machine’s ktitting process and principle.
