The Dynamics Between Traditional Wedding Culture And Contemporary Tapestry Design

Chinese wedding culture includes but not limit to all the customs and traditions,encompassing activities behavioral and spiritual. Reverence to ancestors, evil-repelling,and auspiciousness, omens to encourage fertility and wealth, are all reflectedextensively in marriage ceremonies. The full ritual of the wedding ceremony was deeplyrooted into Chinese history and culture. These evolution and precipitation play anessential role in today’s household tapestry and textile design, as they did in the past.Through in-depth studies and analysis of our wedding traditions, we could betterappreciate the need for customs, while meeting today’s new challenges for the textileindustry. In this article, we studied the hereditary influence of our wedding culture intextile/tapestry design, the blend of traditions with contemporary life style. This studyalso gave indications of future directions in household tapestry/textile design.
