The aim of gas-assisted injection molding numerical simulation is not only to get thedata, but to understand and insight the results of the analysis data. The post-processing ofcalculation results which be based on the scientific visualization can depict massive resultinformation with the visual graphics, image or animation, and can be convenient for technicalstaff to in-depth understand, analysis and insight the results, and also can receive a feasibilityjudgment on mold and product design, and then can optimize the design scheme. Therefore,more powerful the function of the post-processing is, more numerical simulation can play arole. So, this made the post-processing as a key to promote the numerical simulation.Based on the research of the visualization in scientific computing and the gas-assistedinjection molding numerical simulation, the basic idea of gas-assisted injection moldingnumerical simulation post-processing was given in this paper. Then using the object orientedsoftware development method, with Visual C++as the platform and OpenGL as graphicsdevelopment tools, the interactive realistic graphics visualization system of gas-assistedinjection molding numerical simulation post-processing was researched and developed. Thedata preparation functions and the post-processing functions of the gas-assisted injectionmolding numerical simulation were realized,such as3D geometric model reconstruction,mesh model reconstruction, numerical simulation results data acquisition and3D dynamicdisplay, color contour map, section display.In this paper, the author put forward some innovative algorithms, such as "node adjacentelement "," similar to key frame animation" and "effective element ".Under proposing andusing these algorithms, the process of algorithm was simplified, the re-operations of the resultdata and cell reconfiguration were avoided, and ideal effect was also obtained.The main contents of paper are as follows:1) Using the object oriented software development method, the system of realisticgraphics display platform was build with Visual C++and OpenGL graphics library. A gooduser interface was designed. And the friendly man-machine interaction function was realized.2) Based on the research of the STL data format, the3DW grid data format and the resultfile of the numerical simulation, the reconstruction and visualization functions of3Dgeometric model and3D mesh model were developed, and the result data extraction andconversion was achieved, so, the data preparation functions of post-processing were realized. 3) Based on the research of the key technologies and algorithms of post-processing, thepost-processing functions of the gas-assisted injection molding numerical simulation resultswere developed such as dynamic display, color contour map and section display.
