Plastic injection molding simulation (CAE) technology and related software playimportant roles in technological transformation and innovation of the modern plasticsprocessing industry. As an important part of the CAE system, post-processing is a strongsupport and indispensable component of CAE software for guiding production practice. Thispaper focuses on the design and implementation of post-processing module in plasticinjection molding CAE. The prediction of weld line strength is also discussed.The post-processing contents of plastic injection molding CAE system is deeplydiscussed, and thus the post-processing architecture is refined and optimized by collating ofpost-processing workflow. Finally, related classes and objects are designed. Meanwhile, therender method and user interaction in post-processing are described, a designed model whichprovides a basis for the improvement and expansion of post-processing module andfunctions is proposed.Visualization technology of post-processing data field has been studied. Three displaymodes, i.e., color map cloud, contour and color band, are designed to fulfill the visualizationof result data fields. Corresponding efficient algorithms are discussed in detail. The proposedvisualization methods can deal well with the controlling and overall constraints of variousrendering parameters, achieve a dynamic switching and real-time response of three displaymodes, and enrich the display forms of post-processing results.The automatic generation of analysis reports has also been proposed. By providingdifferent versions of the analysis reports such as HTML, WORD, POWERPOINT formats,different languages supports, such as Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, English,effective presentation and sharing of analysis results are implemented. The analysis reportsprovide a basis and carrier for the evaluation, comparison, modification and optimization ofthe process scheme.In addition to the prediction of the weld line position, the predict model of weld linestrength is researched. A modified semi-empirical formula model is combined with theflowing and packing CAE analysis results for predicting the weld line strength. Simulations of weld line strength with PC or ABS materials have been performed, and the correspondingresults are verified and discussed.Most of the research work and results above have been applied in the plastic injectionmolding simulation software HsCAE3D and achieved good practical results.
