Based on physical effect of moisture retention of tobacco, the relationship between the moisture content of tobacco and sensory coziness has been analyzed in this paper. Furthermore, the factors of causing dry sense, the test and sensory evaluation with new physical humectants also have been explored. The study expounded and researched the mechanism of the moisture retention and its application technology.The relationship among environmental humidity, cigarette and dry sense has been discussed. The results showed that the water content of mainstream smoke components and nicotine content in smoke are closely associated with dry sense. Environmental humidity affects the moisture content of tobacco, which is an important factor associated with the water content of mainstream smoke. The moisture content threshold for causing dry sense ranged from9.5%to11.5%. When the moisture content of tobacco reduced from12.5%to10.5%, smoking coziness and the emanation of cigarette are greatly affected, and dry sense is not obvious. When the moisture content of tobacco is less than9.5%, dry sense will be significant in smoking.The results of the method of broken rate were consistent with the results of keeping humidity test. It shows that the method of broken rate may be used to detect the performance of humectants. The method of broken rate has simple operation, can saving time and labor. It can tell the difference of tobacco on the same moisture content, and also can reflect the effect of moisture emancipation of tobacco in24h, that made it be a supplement to traditional detection method.The research studied the relationship between the water of cut tobacco and each indexes of sensory coziness by gery incidence analysis. The results showed:the equilibrium moisture content of cut tobacco are positively related to the spine in mouth, the equilibrium moisture content of cut tobacco are negatively related to the rag in mouth, the spine in throat,the choke stab in throat,the convergence of aftertaste, dry sensation, strength,he thrill in nose,the residue of aftertaste, the covering of aftertaste.Although the sensory quality or dry sense of cigarette can be enhanced by adding various humectants and sensuous humectants, there are negative effects to some degree. The effects of compound humectant are different from single performance humectant and sensuous humectants. For virginia type cigarettes, adding humectant7which has good compatibility can improve taste, reduce the irritation and weaken dry sense. The effect of humectant7is better than traditional humectant propylene glycol, and the recommended concentration is0.3%.
