Researchers in many countries take seriously more and more on recycling of waste tire, as the fossil energy reduction and the people’environmental protection consciousness enhancement. There is no doubt that through the pyrolysis process making waste tire to pyrolysis oil is the most reasonable one, among the various ways to reuse waste tire. For the use of pyrolysis oil, most of the works are still staying on analysis of physical and chemical properties. Mean while few research is based on the use of pyrolysis oil at present in our country. On the other hand, China’s petroleum resin market is great, especially high quality light color petroleum resin is imported massively. Petroleum resin is mainly polymerized by C9fraction which is by-product from petroleum cracking in our country. Based on previous studies in this field, this paper put forward the idea that synthetizes petroleum resin with waste tire pyrolysis oil. After repeated experiments, it is found that pure C9fraction from waste tire pyrolysis oil has enough monomer, but it still cannot be polymerized because of the influence of impurities in raw material. So C9material must be purified especially by adsorption with basic alumina. It is mainly investigated that reaction time, temperature, weight of catalyst and content of C9impact on yield and properties of petroleum resin in this paper. The results show that the best reaction condition is5~6hours,50~80℃, weight of catalyst0.8%. At the conditions, yield of petroleum resin can be50.5%maximally, softening point can be85℃maximally, color can be9-minimum, and bromine value, ash content, pH value etc also conform to the national standard of first grade.
