The weld for turn right angle fillet weld of the plate is difficult. If the operation is not correct, there will be a series of weld defects. Since submerged arc welding has big current, and can one-time weld thick plate. In order to ensure the quality of the welding, we select the process of submerged arc welding. For the turn right angle fillet weld, submerged arc welding machine’s head is large. No matter which welding methods you select. For example the subsection welding, there are many difficulties. Although the robot is flexible, have the capable of welding in this position. But the robot is often used in gas-shielded welding. Application of the robot in the submerged arc welding is very difficult. So we research this control system. This control system is designed based on PLC, servo drive unit and touch screen.During welding the turn right angle fillet welding, it is prone to beget weld defects, seriously reducing the quality of welding. In the system design we use the MATLAB software to analyze the weld data for turn right angle fillet weld seam. Considering the parameters of the welding speed, weld size and so on, we adopt the method of speed compensation, so that the relative error of the welding control in the range of5%to ensuring a smooth transition of speed and greatly improving the quality of welding. As for system programming, it is mainly use the PLC programming language to achieve the control of the welding process for the conclusion of the algorithm. Using of the touch screen is to meet the parameters set, the information status display and real-time monitoring. The use of servo drive unit is to ensure high-precision position control and smooth speed control.Commissioning of the system is mainly for the communication and cooperation test between touch screen, PLC and servo system. The system’s debugging show, through decomposition and compensation of the rotational speed, and use control system based on the PLC and servo drive unit, it is possible to achieve precise control for turn right angle fillet weld seam.
