With the development of power systems, the influence of reactive power on the gridraises more and more attention. In rated voltage, the reactive power of grid had become animportant indicator to measure the power quality; the rapid reactive power compensation hada great practical significance. The TSC is currently on the market a widely used method ofreactive power compensation, it had the characteristics of simple structure and low cost; as anew type of dynamic reactive power compensation device, STATCOM had some advantageswith high control precision, fast response, effectively inhibit the voltage fluctuation andflicker, powerful filtering performance and so on, to become an important member of FACTSdevices.At first, this paper analyzed the principle of TSC and STATCOM reactive powercompensation, systematically analyzed the stability of STATCOM. Then we analyzed theadvantages and disadvantages of the TSC and STATCOM to determine the control strategy ofhybrid system: the TSC was identified the main control objectives, most of the reactive powerto compensate by the TSC; the STATCOM is mainly responsible for the voltage control, it ismainly responsible for the dynamic part of the reactive power compensation. TSC traditionalcontrol method was nine zones control method, started from its advantages and disadvantages,used fuzzy control method to control the TSC; after the final analyzed to determine theSTATCOM used the direct current control.In MATLAB/SIMULINK, establishment of the TSC and STATCOM hybrid systemsimulation model to verify the theory. The fuzzy control part of TSC needed the fuzzy logictoolbox simulation, from the results verified the effectiveness of the method, and improvedthe stability of the system. In SIMULINK simulation waveform,the simulation model ofhybrid system showed that under the hybrid reactive power compensation can be very good toimprove power factor and stabilize the grid voltage, and the application prospect.
