Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM), a power electronic converters and power semiconductor devices combine the absorption and the issue of the ability of reactive reactive power compensation equipment. It is connected to the grid can quickly compensate for reactive power, voltage flicker, to maintain node voltages with very good results. Therefore, the the STATCOM actual device research and manufacturing has a very important significance.In this paper, the reactive capacity lOMvar CASCADE STATCOM devices R&D and testing. First introduced the chain STATCOM topology advantages and disadvantages of the mathematical model is analyzed and calculated according to the deviceā€™s voltage rating and capacity of its main component parameters. Pspice simulation of IGBT parallel design used by the device according to a number of measures to improve the parallel flow and experimentally.We make a modular design of each chain unit according to Chain STATCOM structural characteristics, and design of the measurement of the power module, fault detection and power supply circuit, then the chain unit was tested. Then the paper describes the STATCOM converter chain works and control, its modeling and simulation in matlab explore the characteristics of the carrier phase shift converter chain loss was calculated based on the previous design.
