Diagnosis and treatment is not only the core of the theory of Traditional ChineseMedicine (TCM),but also the features and advantages of the diagnostics of TCM.Whether the differentiation of syndromes in TCM is objective or not will directly affectthe clinical efficiency. Obviously, it is not enough to achieve the goal that depending onthe knowledge of literature and the expert’s experience, but to dig and analyze the largeamounts of data. Through data mining, some hidden and useful regularities of syndromedifferentiation can be found. Some researchers of the differentiation of syndromes in TCMare working on finding an effective way that can process the disease records and data ofincomplete and uncertain scientifically, and has done a lot of exploratory work. So far theproblem, which uses a standardization of mathematical language to describe the theory oftreatment based on syndrome differentiation, has not been solved.The theory of formal concept (FCA) analysis is based on mathematical concepts andconceptual level, and can be used to solve the description problem of the syndromes andsyndrome elements constitute the network. TCM has a lot of syndrome types andsyndrome elements, if the traditional concept lattices are used to describe the relationshipbetween the syndromes (objects) and syndrome elements (attributes), the Hasse diagramwill have many crossed lines between layers. The diagram is too messy to find the usefulknowledge of TCM diagnostics directly with the naked eye.In order to solve the problem of the crossing number of Hasse diagram, an approachfor generating the diagram of partial ordered relation based on FCA is presented in thispaper. By combining it with the layered optimization method, the generated diagram hasthe virtues of concise hierarchical relationship, no crossed lines, explicit category meaningand distinctive hierarchical relationship. According to the visual representation ofhierarchical relationship marking objects and annotating attributes, a method ofknowledge representation and discover which based on the partial ordered relation ofattributes is established. It serves directly to establish the knowledge system of TCMsyndrome differentiation and diagnosis and generate the retrieval of syndrome types.
