| Objectives: To assess the radioactive level of water sediment and soil samplesfrom Tai lake, and the water from waterworks and residents living water inmunicipalities in Suzhou city, Jiangsu province, P.R. China.Methods: Water, sediment and soil samples were collected from three differentsources of Suzhou in Feb,2010; May2010;Aug,2010;Nov,2010.1. The γ dose rate level of Water sources was measured by Radiation SurveyMeter(FH40G,FHZ672E-10Probe, America).2. The totals of α and β was measured by two-sample low-background α and βscintillation counter.3. Use BE5350(CANBERRA Company) γ nuclide to measure the137Cs and226Raã€232Thã€40K in the Aquatic of Water sources.4. Use919E ORTEC γ nuclide to measure the137Cs and226Raã€232Thã€40K in theSediment and Soil.Results:1. Among three different water sources, the highest level of γ dose rate was110.0nSv/h,the lowest level was51.6nSv/h, the mean was84.62nSv/h.2. Among all the source water, the highest level of α was0.033Bq/L,the lowestlevel less than the lower limit of instrument0.0146Bq/L, the mean was0.024Bq/L; Thehighest level of β was0.247Bq/L, the lowest level was0.095Bq/L, the mean was0.187Bq/L.Among all the drinking water, the highest level of α was0.021Bq/L,the lowestlevel less than the lower limit of instrument0.0146Bq/L, the mean was0.018Bq/L; Thehighest level of β was0.192Bq/L, the lowest level was0.091Bq/L, the mean was0.151Bq/L.among Drinking water, the highest level of α and β was0.021Bq/L and0.192Bq/L.3. Among the aquatic plants of water sources, the highest level of232Th was 2.65Bq/Kg, the lowest level was0.30Bq/Kg, the mean was1.44Bq/Kg; The highestlevel of226Ra was2.45Bq/Kg, the lowest level was0.27Bq/Kg, the mean was1.32Bq/Kg;The highest level of40K was358.4Bq/Kg, the lowest level was57.31Bq/Kg,the mean was147.4Bq/Kg; The highest level of137Cs was0.15Bq/Kg, the lowest levelwas0.04Bq/Kg, the mean was0.083Bq/Kg.4. Among the Sediment and Soil of Water sources, the highest level of232Th was43.72Bq/Kg, the lowest level was1.70Bq/Kg, the mean was25.65Bq/Kg;The highestlevel of226Ra was34.79Bq/Kg, the lowest level was2.52Bq/Kg, the mean was19.06Bq/Kg; The highest level of40K was440.0Bq/Kg, the lowest level was16.61Bq/Kg, the mean was244.88Bq/Kg; The highest level of137Cs was3.68Bq/Kg, thelowest level was0.30Bq/Kg, the mean was1.58Bq/Kg.Conclusions: Radioactive levels of both drinking water and the surroundingenvironment of water source in Suzhou city meet national safety standards. |
