Objective: To evaluate the long-term clinical effect of Endonal endoscopicdacrystorhinostomy combined with lacrimal stents.implantation for chronicdacryocystitis. Methods: All cases were randomly divided into two groups: The study group with26cases (33eyes)were given Endonal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy combinedwith lacrimal stent implantation, at the same time Miller glue was filled in around thestent for the fixation. The control group of23cases (28eyes) were treated by simpleEndonal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy. There was no application of lacrimalstent in the operation process. At the end of operation, the fixation mucosal flap wasmade with Miller glue..The after operation treatment is the same with two groups. Then a12months’ Follow-up observation was given.. The two groups’ cure rate andstoma area results in1month,6months, and12months were compared..Results: After1month, the cure rates were96.96%,92.86%, respectively for thestudy group and the control group. And the fistulization orifice areas measured for thetwo groups were respectively30.14±0.23mm~2、30.10±064mm~2. Statistical analysisshowed no statistical significance (P>0.05). The cure rate of the study group of26cases (33eyes) were90.91%and84.85%on the6months and12months result; Thecure rate of the control group of23cases (28eyes) were71.43%and60.71%on the6months and12months result. The statistical analysis showed a statistical significance(X2=3.889、4.560, P <0.05). The stoma areas after the operation of6months were23.95±3.07mm~2and12.57±2.26mm~2; The statistic T-test confirmed that the stomaareas of the study group patients after the operation were greater than that of the control group of patients (t=16.220, P <0.05). The stoma areas after the operationof12months were20.12±2.34mm~2and10.15±1.85mm~2; The statistic T-testconfirmed that the study group patients after the operation had greater stoma areasthan that of the control group’s patients (t=18.233, P <0.05).Conclusion: Endonal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy combined with lacrimalstent implantation in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis is beneficial to improvethe postoperative curative effect, and it is a minimally invasive, safe and effectivenew treatment method.
