Objective: To investigate factors of the elderly patients being affected by thecognitive dysfunction (POCD) after orthopaedic surgery. To analyze factors that leads toPOCD and work out methods to prevent and measure with it.Methods: Choose50elderly patients that are over the age of60which have doneorthopaedic surgery in Shandong traditional Chinese medicine hospital, orthopedics ward,test the cognitive function of the patient before and after the surgery usingneuropsychological testing scale, analyze the contributive factors of POCD; doing dataanalysis with SPSS11.5statistic software, and take logistic stepwise regression analysis toanalyze the contributive factors.Results: Age, preoperative hypertension, and preoperative depression have obviousimpact on POCD, which has statistic sense (P<0.05).Conclusion: The incidence of POCD attacking the elderly orthopaedic patients ishigh and the harm is serious, which the orthopaedic colleagues should pay high attention toand do abundant preparation before the surgery. It is also essential to correct Physiologicaldisorders, do psychological counseling and strengthen nursing care after the surgery. Age,preoperative hypertension, and preoperative depression are the contributive factors ofPOCD, which can be prevent by doing psychological counseling to the elderly patients thatare taking abdominal surgical operation treatment during perioperative period andtherefore improve all areas of the cognitive function of the elderly patients after surgery.
