| Allergic rhinitis is an IgE-mediated chronic inflammation disease, involving a variety of immunocompetent cells and cytokines in nasal mucosa.At present, with social progression, economic development, the morbidity of allergic diseases increase promptly. Recent years, the proportion of patients with allergic rhinitis grow rapidly, the average prevalence in the world is about between10to20%. An even higher rate appears in developed countries and regions, and the highest rate reached to40%. A lots of factors influence to the allergic rhinitis, and it may be relavent with way of life, dietary habits, cross infection, surrounding environment, genetic and so on.Objective:In order to determine the prevalence of allergic rhinitis among students of primary and middle school in Changsha using methods of epidemiology investigation, and analyze the relative factors of allergic rhinitis, and to explore the influence degree on the quality of life in primary and high school students with allergic rhinitis, and provide the scientific data for intervention and treatment of allergic rhinitis.Methods:From July2011to April2012, through the health examination of the students between10to17years old in the primary and middle schools of Changsha, and the questionnaire survey to students by the use of disease questionnaire, quality of life scale, combined with the skin prick to determine the prevalence of allergic rhinitis and related factors. There are two survey methods:1) through the stratified sampling and two stage sampling of7023students,to complete the data collection, and clinical diagnosis;2) random sampling in the whole group, to make skin prick test on814students between10-17years old within four schools in Changsha, and diagnosis through the clinical symptoms and physical examination. Results:1ã€The prevalence of allergic rhinitis between primary and middle school students in Changsha(1) The stratified sampling questionnaires survey results showed that6407cases in the random7023samples were effective. the response rate was91.2%,"incidence of self-reported allergic rhinitis" was44.6%(2857/6407). The second stage sampling survey and clinical diagnosis results show that there were249cases of allergic rhinitis in1212students, and the prevalence rate of allergic rhinitis was20.5%.(2) The survey of814cases with cluster sampling indicated that the allergic individual rate was26.3%(214/814),140cases of allergic rhinitis were identified; the prevalence of allergic rhinitis is17.2%(140/814).2ã€The main allergen of allergic rhinitis was dust mites, which accounted for97.1%.3ã€Data showed that the main factors of influence of allergic rhinitis were living environment, life habit, genetic and asthma.4ã€Allergic rhinitis had significant influence to student’s character, memory, the sleep quality and so on.Conclusions:The prevalence of allergic rhinitis among10-17year-old students is about17-20%in primary and middle schools in Changsha. The pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis might be related with environment, genetic heredity, life-style. Allergic rhinitis significantly influence on student’s character, memory, sleep quality. |
