| Object:To observe the clinical effects of Cough therapy of Liao’s Child Massage in treating child cough due to external affection of wind and cold. To evaluate clinical effects of child massage in treating child cough due to external affection of wind and cold. objectively and to study its mechanism for looking for an therapy which is practical, effective and easy to be generalized.Methods:The children suffering from cough due to external affection were taken to the study and the research program of foresight comparison was adopted.60cases were divided into two groups in random. Each group had30cases. One group was treated by Chinese herbs and another was treated by both Chinese herbs and child massage. The children in the group treated by Chinese herbs were treated by formula of Jin Fu Cao San for the syndrome of wind and cold attacking lungs or formula of Sang Ju Yin Modification for the syndrome of wind and heat invading lungs. The children in massage group was not only treated by herbs but also the cough therapy of Liaos massage additionally.Four TCM symptoms such as cough, cough up phlegm, stuffy nose and running nose and itching in pharynx and the local body symptoms were considered as the index for observation and study according to TCM syndrome characteristics in this disease. The standard to comprehensively evaluate symptoms before the treatment and after the treatment combine with the local body symptoms was established. Observe the clinical effect and the change of symptoms and local body signs before and after the treatment in these two groups and had a comparative analysis.Results:1. Clinical effectThe clinical effect in massage group is obviously better than that in herb group (P<0.05)which means that the whole clinical effect is more marked after the massage therapy is added in the treatment。The period of time when patients healed is shorter in massage group than herb group. 2. Comparison of Integral Change of TCM Symptoms and Body Sighs Before and After Treatment.Both groups showed a definite clinical effect in treating child cough due to external affection (P<0.05). In general clinical effect the clinical effect in massage group is better than that in herb group (P<0.05). The clinical effect is definite in improving the main symptoms and accompanying symptoms by both groups (P<0.05). There is no obvious difference in both groups in improving the symptoms of cough up phlegm, stuffy nose, running nose and body sign in pharynx.(P>0.05)But in improving symptoms of cough, itching and pain in pharynx the clinical effect is better in the massage group than that in herb group (P<0.05)Conclusion:The child massage of Liao’s Therapy can obviously improve many symptoms of children suffering from common cold due to external affection and its clinical effect from the group treated by both herbs and child massage is better than that treated only by the herbs. |
