ObjectiveBy observing the expression of Fhit and C-erbB-2to discuss their relationships withclinical and pathological characteristics in infiltrating ductal breast carcinoma, and providebasis for its diagnosis and treatment.MethodsImmunohistochemical technique was completed to detect the expression of oncogeneFhit and C-erbB-2in100cases of primary carcinoma and50cases of normal breast tisues.Their clinical and pathological indices and follow up data were analyzed.(1) Fhit prote in expression was detected positive in forty-eight (48.0%) cases of breastcancer, and in one hunderd (100.0%) of normal breast tissues, respectively(p <0.05).(2) C-erbB-2prote in expression was detected positive in seventy-seven (77.0%) casesof breast cancer, and in none (0.0%) of normal breast tissues, respectively. There was asignificant difference in the expression of C-erbB-2prote between the cancer tumor tissuesand the normal breast tissues(p <0.05).(3)There was a significant difference in the expression of Fhit prote between the tumortissues and the normal breast tissues(p <0.05).(4) Organization of C-erbB-2high expression of Fhit, lower rate, Spearman rankcorrelation analysis showed: breast cancer Organization of C-erbB-2and Fhit expressionwere negatively correlated (r=-0.35, P=0.001).(5) C-erbB-2prote and the presence of lymph node metastases are related; Fhitexpression and C-erbB-2expression in the presence of negative correlation; Fhit expressionand lymphnode.Conclusions(1)When the Fhit oncogene protein is negative and C-erbB-2is positive, the lymph-node metastases appear easily.(2) The expression of C-erbB-2gene is positively correlated with tumor invasion, C- erbB-2can be used as an independent molecular marker for determining the prognosis andplanning the postoperative treatment. Fhit protein expression is associated with lymph nodemetastasis in breast cancer, Loss of Fhit prote in expression may become an importantprognostic marker for breast cancer. For the treatment of metastatic patients, the evaluationof Fhit、C-erbB-2status should be performed in neoplastic tissue from metastatic site, when-ever possible.
