Background: Breast and thyroid gland both belong to the endocrinesystem, the endocrinal environment changes may have an effect on thefunction and structure of the gland.In1900s,there were articles aboutrelationship between breast cancer and thyroid lesions, reporting thehigher incidence of thyroid lesions in breast cancer patients than inhealthy people. As more and more researches put focus on thisarea, there is still no exact explanation about the relationship betweenbreast cancer and thyroid lesions. Objective:Investigation of the change of thyroid hormone level in serumand the relationship between breast cancer clinical pathological features.Methods:530cases of breast cancer were taken in group fromNovember2011to October2012,including50cases diagnosed withthyroid lesion,take600patients diagnosed with breast benign lesions ascontrol group. All patients received serum detection of thyroid hormonesbefore surgery, and all the data and information were analyzedstatistically. Results: The incidence of thyroid lesion in breast cancer patients is9.4%,patients older than45are more likely to suffer thyroidlesion.Patients diagnosed breast cancer with thyroid lesions show nochange in thyroid hormone(T) and thyroid stimulus hormone(TSH) levelserum level compared to other breast cancer patients (P>0.050).Allthe breast cancer patients have higher T3level than breast benign lesionpatients.Increased level of T3is associated with tumor size, clinicalstage, and lymph metabasis level(P<0.050),no relation to patientage, pathological type, and ER,PR expression is found(P>0.050).Conclusions: Breast cancer patients are more likely to suffer thyroidlesions, and show higher thyroid hormone level, which take certainresponsibility to the incidence of both diseases, and have some effect onthe prognosis of breast cancer.
