The dialect of Baotou belongs to “Da Bao area”(Datong and Baotou) of Jin dialect.Donghe is an old district of Baotou, and Jin dialect had become the common languagein Donghe many years ago. Donghe district, which has a long history, is the cradlelandof Baotou culture. Most of Donghe people, their original family home is Shanxi. Theyhad the experience of “make a living, Xikou passing”(It is an extensive migration in themodern history of China.).The forefathers of Donghe people came from northernShanxi, they lived in Donghe since about three hundred years ago. They spoke Jindialect and lived with Mongolian generation by generation in peace, and they createdthe particular culture between Mongolian and Han, especially in language aspect. Inthese three hundred years, Mongolian affected Jin dialect all the time after theforefathers of Donghe people lived in Baotou. Now we can see many Mongolian wordsin Jin dialect, so at present Jin dialect is full of the cadence of the minority nationality’slanguage.Jin dialect is not only in Shanxi, but also spreads over the old northern mandarinarea as Inner Monglia and Hebei, the immigrants from Shanxi take Jin dialect to othernorthern places, Jin dialect is the unique dialect that have “p\t\k” coda.The purpose of this thesis is to study the phonetic and words characteristics of Jindialect in Donghe, and comparing it with Chinese mandarin. After so many years, theimmigrants from Shanxi have inosculated with the people in Baotou, their Jin dialecthas changed, too. Nowadays, Baotou is an industrial city. Beside the immigrants fromShanxi, there are many immigrants from other places as Dongbei, and with the trend ofgeneralizing Chinese mandarin, Jin dialect in Donghe is far away from Jin dialect inShanxi. There are many points which we should pay attention to. For example, in Jindialect, the vowels and the consonants are reducing and the words which have “圪”suffix are reducing.Jin dialect in Donghe, which is the wealth of Chinese language, is the witness of“make a living, Xikou passing”. It is the precious bequest that was bequeathed by ourforefathers, and it is the symbol of the friendship between Mongolian and Han. So it isvery important if we have a detailed research to Jin dialect in Donghe. From the study,we can find some evidences to analyse the changing of Jin dialect. We can enrich the words of Jin dialect, especially we can find more Mongolian loanwords in Jin dialect,this kind of words is a unique characteristic of Jin dialect in Neimeng. Analyzing thepronounciation of Jin dialect in Donghe can help us generalizing Chinese mandarin;analyzing the words of Jin dialect in Donghe can help us researching the change anddevelopment of Jin dialect in Neimeng. And it can also provide support for the artproducing in dialect. For example,“Er Ren Tai” is a local dialect drama that inosculatesMongolian and Han culture in Neimeng. Comparing with the other local art, it lagsbehind, but we can improve it through the study of Jin dialect in Inner Mongolia.The purpose of this thesis is hoping more and more people to pay attention Jindialect in Neimeng. We should know its headstream is Jin dialect in Shanxi, we shouldcompare it with Mongolian and Chinese, and we should delve its history. The study ofJin dialect in Donghe Baotou will have a contribution to the research of Chineselanguage.
