Because of the difference in Language expression and cultur, a word which exists in one language may not find in another language. This phenomenon is lexical gap. The comparison of linguistic and cultural shows the existence of lexical gaps between Chinese and German. Lexical gaps are key point and difficult point in TCFL. Based on the previous researches, I study lexical gaps bewteen Chinese and German in TCFLThe paper is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the reason for this paper and the research of the current situation on this project.The second part give the definition and types of lexical gaps. The author collects as much vacancywords as possible from Chinese-German dictionary and categorizes these words.In the third part, the author analyses the reason why lexical gaps emerges from linguistic and cultural angles.In the forth part, through the materials from the language database and homeworks of german students, the author analyses the mistakes caused by lexical gaps from semantics and pragmatics.The last part summarize content of the whole paper, point out the shortcomings and look forward to the later research.
