The teaching of Chinese as a second language(TCSL) has achieved great success both on the research of the theory and the practice through half of centuries. As the Chinese learning is becoming more and more popular, the learner group has been expanded to the young. Yet comparing to the research of TCSL on adults, the research of TCSL on children is insufficient. From what we have collected, we can find that the major studies have been focused on the teaching technique, textbook, teaching theories, but the research on Chinese reading for overseas children has been left without anyone to care for it although it plays a vital important role in the second language learning of children. Since the children literature is interrelated with the children reading, the study was made by analyzing the children literature articles in some of the children Chinese learning textbooks to see whether the children literature is suitable for Chinese learning or not and some principles of selecting the children literature has been put forward as well.
