The Research On Mechanism Of Delayed-Jol Effect

Judgments of learning are assessments of result of the recollect test done by individuals after finish learning some particular information. It is one of the most important forms of metamemory monitoring judgment, and its mechanism and accuracy have always been the concern of many psychologists. The research on delayed-JOL effect is a hot spot, and many theories has been proposed. In general, these hypotheses can be divided into two categories:The first one is metamemory hypothesis, in this view, the significant rise of relatively accuracy is the based on the rise of level of metamemory;and the other one called memory hypothesis prefer delayed-JOL effect is due to time-delay before judgment which emphysied potential memory of the study project, thus the Enhancement of memory traces led to the generation of delayed effects.Both of the two experiments of this research is on delayed-JOL effect: experiment1concerns about the debate on mechanism of delayed-JOL effect between memory hypothesis and metamemory hypothesis, and try to find the root cause; while experiment2concerns about the delay cue-target JOLs, and try to find why delayed-JOL effect dosen’t appears in this particular condition.Experiment1takes the form of between-subject design using90college students as testee.Independent variables are immediate judgement, short time delay judgment and long time delay judgment.experiment1is looking forward to prove the assumption that the root cause of delayed-JOL effect is the rising of metamemory. Experiment results show that:(1) Only the result of short time delay judgment is significant better than immediate judgment,(2)Delayed-JOL effect occurs in both2delay judgment condition,(3) The rising of metamemory is the root reason of delayed-JOL effect.Experiment2takes the form of within-subject design using25college students as testee. Independent variables are immediate judgment, delayed cue-target condition, delayed cue-target JOLs while pre-recall procedure inserted. judgment.experiment2is looking forward to prove the attempted target retrieval dgment based on clue-target because of that individuals couldn’t make effective extact.Experiment results show that:(1) Delayed judgment based on clut-target while pre-reall procedure inserted significant higher than the others in recall accuracy;(2)If effective extact has been made, delayed-JOL effect occurs even under delayed cue-target condition.
