The past decade has seen a dramatic increase in the amount of research on metacognition, Metacognitive investigations currently encompass a diverse range of fields, One common metamemory measure is the judgments of learning (JOLs), Nelson and Dunlosky (1991) reported that the temporally delayed JOLs were strongly correlated with future cued-recall performance, whereas immediate JOLs showed only typical, modest correlations. Nelson and Dunlosky dubbed this the "delayed-JOL effect."The interpretation of this delayed-JOL effect has been the subject of debate. According to Nelson and Dunlosky, information from STM contaminates immediate JOLs but not delayed JOLs, a proposal they termed the monitoring-dual -memories (MDM) hypothesis Spellman and Bjork argued that JOLs themselves alter the conditional probability of future cued-recall performance by serving as an additional test trial. Successful retrieval during a delayed JOL might not only lead to high confidence, it might also enhance future retrieval, producing a high correlation between the two.The main idea of this study was to discuss the two different hypothesis. The two theory maybe have found the two different condition on Delayed-JOLs effect. With four experiments we have proved that the condition advanced in MDM is necessary to Delayed-JOLs effect, and the condition supported by Spellman and Bjork is a sufficient one. Experiment 1 showed that only if the distraction of short time memory had been eliminated could the Delayed-JOLs effect come forth. Participant in Experiment 2 made a really increase veracity in 5m after reading items with the Eliminating STM distraction. Experiment 3 showed clearly that making JOLs lead to better cue-performance. From Experiment 4, we found that enforce cue-object is not necessary to Delayed-JOLs effect, other factors made it.
