Applying the methodology of lingusitic typology, the thesis breaks through the limitations of traditional grammatical research and tries to explore the grammar focus of typological merits in Yulin Dialect. Simultaneously, it tries to develop a scientific research approach for Chinese dialects especially the Southern dialects, thus giving suggestions to further study of dialect grammar in southern areas.The whole thesis can be divided into seven chapters. In the first chapter, the objectives, scope, theoretical framework and the source for the information are given.The second chapter is the background introduction. In this section, the current grammatical studies of Yulin Dialect is given including its shortcomings. On the basis of the preceding studies, taking the methodology of lingusitic typology as guideline and applying the method of grammatical research of typology to obtain a thorough investigation, the thesis tries to explore the grammar focus of typological merits in Yulin Dialect.From the third chapter to the sixth chapter is the main body of the thesis. In the main part, a thorough descrption and analysis of Yulin Dialect grammar is shown according to the field investigation thus to explore the grammar focus of typological merits in Yulin Dialect.The fourth chapter concerns about the empty words. It studies pronouns, classifiers, special forms of verbs, adverbs in Yulin Dialect.The fifth chapter investigates the following syntactical aspects of Yulin Dialect, such as passive voices,ditransitive structures, clauses of double objects, comparitive structure, relative clauses and interrogative sentences.The last chapter is the conclusion. In this chapter, a summary is given to further investigate the realistic meaning and theoretical significance of grammar research under the guideline of typology, and then a new direction is demonstrated for the grammar study of Guangdong Language.
