This paper aims to study the status and characteristics of empathy and interpersonal relationship of junior high school students; the relationship between interpersonal relationship and empathy; and the effect of empathy training for junior high school students. The study has two parts. Study1surveyed152participants from two Zhejiang’s junior high school to study the current status and the relationship between the empathy and interpersonal relationship; Study2selected32students and randomly divided into experimental and control groups, each group has16students, and the do the training for the experimental group.Conclusions:1. The empathy and interpersonal relationships of junior high school students is in general at a medium level. there are significant differences in gender of empathy, but there is no differences in grade, family structure an. Junior high school interpersonal relationship there are significant grade differences in family structure, whether the class cadre, whether one child, the difference was not significant.2. There was a significant positive correlation between. empathy and interpersonal relationship of junior high school students. The higher empathy, The better interpersonal relationship is. High empathy can significantly predict the situation of interpersonal relationship.3. The students of control group who participated the group counseling has been significantly improved in empathy ability. The relationships of the junior high school students also improved with the increase of empathy.
