Shaanxi Province Urbanization Influence On Urban Ecosystem Health

With the multi-disciplinary of natural science, social science and health science, the research on ecosystem health has been developed at the end of the1980s affected by the thought of sustainable development.Currently, these researches on ecosystem health mainly concentrated on discussing the concept and connotation, the evaluation criteria,methods and index systems,as well as the health assessment on typical nature ecosystems(such as wetland ecosystem,forest ecosystem,farmland ecosystem, greenhouse ecosystem),and even on urban ecosystem.With the improvement of urbanization,the problems of urban arise and greatly affect the urban ecosystem health.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the effect of urbanization to urban ecosystem health.However, there are little researches on it from the point of quantitative analysis.This research,which applies the urbanization theories and the evaluation methods of ecosystem health,assessed the level of urbanization and the urban ecosystem health status on the ten cities of Shaanxi province respectively in the year of2000,2005and2010.The influence mechanism of urbanization on urban ecosystem health was analyzed.Further, the influence law of urbanization on the urban ecosystem health in Shaanxi province was revealed.The study is very helpful to speed up the urbanization in Shaanxi Province,to urge the government to pay more attention to eco-environment construction,and to promote the urban ecosystem healthy.Also,there are important theoretical and practical significance of achieving coordinated development between urbanization and ecosystem health,improving life quality of residents in urban,increasing the development capacity of Shaanxi province,and further ensuring the full implementation of the development plannings of ten cities in Shaanxi Province and the Western Development Strategy.Through studying, the results were researched as following:First, there was obvious urbanization imblalance among the ten cities in Shaanxi province,the comprehensive urbanization level in Xi’an was significantly higher than other cities.The comprehensive urbanization level all improved in the ten cities in Shaanxi province from2000to2010. But the rate of urbanization level increase in ten cities was different.Of ten cities, the urbanization level in Xi’an was increased the most,with an increase of24.3%,and the least in Tongchuan with0.6%.There were two stages of comprehensive urbanization level during the ten cities in Shaanxi province in2000.The five cities in Guanzhong district were in the medium urbanization stage, yet the remaining cities were in the lower stage.In2010, the urbanization level of Xi’an was in the higher stage.Specifically,Shangluo was still in the lower urbanization stage, and the others were all in the medium stage.Second, the comprehensive health index of urban ecosystem increased steadily in the ten cities of Shaanxi province from2000to2005.Yan’an improved the most by16.4%,but Tongchuan improved the least by3.6%. The comprehensive health index of urban ecosystem of the ten cities in Shaanxi province were all rapidly increased from2005to2010. Baoji improved the most by29.4%, and Ankang improved the least by12.2%. The comprehensive health index of urban ecosystem in Xi’an was the highest of Shaanxi province from2000to2010, and showed an increasing tend. In2000, the comprehensive health index of Weinan was0.218,which is the lowest of Shaanxi province.In2005and2010, the comprehensive health index of Shangluo was the lowest,0.331and0.473respectively.In2000, the comprehensive health status of urban ecological system of the ten cities in Shaanxi province was all in sick level.In2005,Xi’an was in unhealthy level,but the other cities of Shaanxi province were still in sick level.In2010, the comprehensive health status in Shangluo remained in sick level,the other cities of Shaanxi province increased quickly.The urban ecosystem health status of Xi’an, Baoji,Xianyang,Yan’an and Tongchuan were in sub-health level, and Yulin, Hanzhong, Ankang and Weinan were in unhealthy level.Third, with the improvement of urbanization, the comprehensive health index of urban ecosystem showed an increasing tend.In space,both the urbanization level index and comprehensive health index in Xi’an were the highest,but such in Shangluo were the lowest.Urbanization affects urban ecosystem health by destroying and polluting the urban eco-environment.Besides,urbanization makes influence on urban ecological system by changing the structure of spatial,economic and social,and by affecting the function of production,living,and revivification,and the flow of material,energy and information.The negative impacts of urbanization on ecosystem health can be reduced through market mechanism, artificial regulation and policy interventions.
