With the rapid development of the powder molding technology in the automotive, household appliance, aerospace, light industry and other fields, the demand of powder metallurgy precision molding press was increased. With the increasing proportion of complex multi-table structure in powder molding parts, the powder molding equipment and it’s die-set is moving towards the direction that product higher precision and more complex molding productions which demand higher requirements on tonnage, stiffness and precision of powder molding press. The design of die-set is particularly critical, because it is the fundamental guarantee for compacts to get a certain accuracy of shape and size.Firstly, the article designed a three on three die-set. The upper punch of die-set is driven by structure of slider-crank, the female mold is driven by drop-down force of hydraulic cylinder and the floating plate is also driven by paired hydraulic cylinder. At the same time, the stopper is still using the mechanical structure. Upper of the three on three die-set has three punches, so the whole die-set can form a more complex structure with six countertops and a center hole. The die-set has the advantages of serialization, standardization, assembly and disassembly easily and accuracy of movement reliably. A static analysis on components and die of the die-set is made to test the stiffness and strength and general method for the die-set is summarized by static analysis. Then the dynamic characteristic of die-set was analyzed to ensure the dynamic stiffness requirement of die-set, it is concluded the first ten natural frequency and mode shapes of die-set. Then, an optimization design of the die-set was made according to results of the analysis of static and dynamic characteristics in order to realize optimization of the forming precision of die-set. Finally, the optimization design of manufacturing and assembly accuracy of the die-set was made in order to realize optimization of the forming precision of die-set as the same and ensure smoothly operation of the die-set.A new type of powder metallurgy precision molding press was developed, the manufacturing capacity of the complex moldings in powder metallurgy industry was improved, the diverse of the market was great satisfied. Furthermore, a foundation for the further development of the powder metallurgy precision molding press was made.
