Cold rolled strip is a very important material for many industrial departments.In recent years, with the continuous development of China’s industrialmodernization, the market for cold rolled strip demand increases unceasingly,and has more and more application areas. At present, the strip products coldrolled plate has been widely used in many fields, such as home appliances,electronics, automotive, aerospace, marine and daily necessities etc. Theadvantages of cold rolled strip are that the dimensional accuracy of the productis very high and has good surface quality especially good mechanical properties.The coiling process is a very important step in process of cold rolled plate. Itdetermines the quality of products directly. Besides, the volume stability oftension has a great influence on shape, size precision and the product quality.Based on the production of strip as the background, the coiler constant tensioncontrol system characteristics and control mode is analyzed in detail. In thispaper, we put the Siemens T400technology board as the control core, andfinally, we realize the coiling process of the constant tension control target.The paper firstly introduces the volume generated tension mechanism, effectand volume hardware configuration environment of tension control system.Then, we analyzed and studied the realization of several scheme of constanttension control. Through the analysis of the constant line speed of the coilingtension control system based on volume, we also established mathematics modelof system. Then, combined with the winding tension control system parameterchange law, we finished the parameters of the controller based on theconventional PID tuning. We also discussed the application of adaptive PIDcontrol algorithm in control process. Combined with specific parameters oftwo-roller mill coiler control system in Shanxi Provincial MetallurgicalEquipment Technology Key Laboratory of theory and technology. UsingMatlab/Simulink to establish a system simulation model, we conducted asimulation analysis of the conventional PID control system and the adaptivetension control system of PID. Through the comparative analysis of the simulation results, we confirmed that adaptive PID has good anti-jammingperformance, and can improve the tension control precision. The adaptive PIDnot only eliminated the effect of the change of system parameters on the systemperformance, but also achieved the performance index requirements of thesystem. Finally, according to the the control principle of tension control systemfor constant linear velocity of the coiling and experimental requirements, wehave developed automation control program and the corresponding HMI.Thenwe carried out an experimental study, and carried out the acquisition, processingand analysis of experimental data.The experimental results show that, based onadaptive PID constant speed and tension control method is reasonable, feasible.
