| This thesis includes two parts in all.The first part is the translation part (from English to Chinese). The original text is a short story Foster written by Claire Keegan, which is published in New Yorker in February,2010. This Irish female writer is now very popular and attracts lots of attention. Like Keegan’s other works, words in this article are accurately chosen and the sentences flow beautifully. Even the famous Richard Ford gives highly praises to Keegan for her "shining talent" and "patient attention to life’s vast consequence and finality".The second part is the critical commentary part. This part discusses the concept on how to nail the standard during the translating process from English to Chinese, using examples taken from the first part. At the same time, this part suggests the translators to think more from the reader’s points of view, in order to gain the most beautiful works that will be best appreciated by the readers. |
