The great change during the Eastern Han Dynasty, especially in Huan and LingDynasties, had heavily influence the literati’s mentality and their creation. Most of thefollow researchers focused on the political transformation during this period. Also,they took a critical attitude towards this history. This was due to its corruptgovernment. In the way of literary studies, researchers mainly focused on poetry,rather than prose. Besides, the only few research on prose also took negative attitude. Ithink this is obviously not comprehensive and true.The prose during the Huan and Ling Dynasties always related to politics, ethos ofliterati, and literary trend. To research it, we can make up the blank and shortage ofprose studies during this period. On the other hand, it has an inaugural significance forpolitics and economy at that time.From all above, this article will provide a specific and systematic study for theprose during the Huan and Ling Dynasties. Because other writers’tablet inscriptionswere less to be preserved, I won’t talk about them in this article. Cai Yong’s workcould be seen as the best at that time. As an outstanding literate in the late HanDynasty, he is good at various type of writing. He is knowledgeable and innovative.Therefore, he can not only do very well in tablet inscription, but also to be innovative.His works are the arrangement of Confucianism and brilliant. Therefore, his work addluster than the tablet inscription itself. Cai Yong’s innovation in tablet inscription hasprofound significance to the later prose creation. In the last part, according to above, Iwill summarize the prose during Huan and Ling Dynasties. I will not only expresseach of their characteristics, but also reflect their similarity in general, in order to standout the valuation and significance of prose during Huan and Ling Dynasties.
