Qufu Confucius Interpretation System Research

Cultural heritage is the result of the history, possessing the values of history, science technology, and culture. The significance of cultural heritage will be passed on only by making the visitors accept the values the heritage can transmit. Due to the necessity of transmitting heritage’s value and boom of cultural tourism, the groups of people searching for novelty, leisure and cultural enjoyment become the major groups of cultural tourism. And the interpretation system that transmits the cultural heritage information becomes the main media linking the heritage and the public. As the significant ancient buildings and sacrificial place, Confucius Temple leaves people a majestic and sacred feeling. However, with the exception of this sacred feeling, most people who are eagerly to understand the meaning of cultural heritage are confused by its profound culture intention. In view of this situation, this paper intends to focus on the study of Confucius Temple’s Interpretation System, and investigate the problems existing in the similar heritage’s interpretation system. By doing this, this paper will play a significant role in perfecting the study of cultural heritage’s interpretation system.Based on the document research in and abroad, this paper explains the concept of "interpretation". By modifying the model of interpretation process and consulting the model of theme-material-market, the paper introduces the interpretation system consisting of interpretation materials, interpretation media, interpretation receivers, interpretation evaluation and other supporting systems. According to the condition of QuFu Confucius Temple, the paper infers the interpretation system of QuFu Confucius Temple. Based on the investigation, questionnaire analysis and relevant literature research, the paper makes an evaluation of the historic, artistic and scientific values of Confucius Temple, and then fixes a right position of the interpretative materials. The research result indicates that the main problems are the usage of non-human interpretative media in a low percentage and the big gap between the expectation and experience. This paper attempts to solve the problems in the three aspects, the first one is to perfect the language in the non-human interpretative media; the second one is to make a clear theme in the display to avoid repetition; the last one is to perfect the form of exhibition and intangible heritage.
