"a House Continued Spectrum" Colloquial Words Research

Nichang Xupu is a type of folk music collected by Yan Zide,a composer who lived in tianjin Sanhetang in Qing Dynasty,and compiled by Wang Tingshao minor point set of it.The writer used many dialects and colloquial words,which provides a lot of linguistic materials for the study of the modern Chinese vocabulary. So it is of great value in linguistics. At present there are only a few related to dialects in Nichang Xuqu, among which only five theses concern several dialects and involve the explanations about them.there is no thesis or works which thoroughly investigated colloquial words in Nichang Xuqu.The author corducted an overall study on colloquial words in this book,including classifying statistics,contrasting and generalizing and exploring the meanings.besides,the author,guided by relerant liguistic theories,made a static analysis.the thesis is composed of six chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,which involves the background and the content of the study,the methodologies and significance of the study.In the second chapter,the definition of colloquial words is discussed and the statistic results of the colloquial words in Nichang Xupu are introduced.The third chapter is about the classification and interpretation of colloquial words.There are80words in all,which are classified into5types.They are appellation,name obiect class term,actions,property,others,and29of them have not been adopted by Great Dictionary of Chinese.At the same time,6new meaning items are found out and23new book examples are provided or pushed forward for the colloquial words collected in the dictionary. In chapter4,the constitution of thecolloquial words in NichangXupu is analysed.The fifth chapter is about the analysis of folk features reflected by colloquial words in NichangXupu.In the last chapter,the author makes a simple conclusion.All in all,the thesis provides some vivid and inspiring first-hand data for the research of Chinese vocabulary history,the compilation and revision of Great Dictionary of Chinese,the sorting and reading of relevant ancient books,and the research of ancient literature and folkloric culture.Besides,it can serve as the valuable reference for them.
