In China, colleges and universities undertake the historical mission of cultivating qualified socialist builders and successors, in which teachers play an indispensible part. For teachers of universities and colleges, professional ethics are their life and soul. Without the development of professional ethics, universities and colleges would lose the support of human resources and internal motivation for running schools and educating people. At present, little attention is paid to the scientific development of those teachers’ professional ethics both at home and abroad with few prospective research results. Consequently, it is necessarily crucial to lay stress on teachers’professional ethics education and to explore ways of improving the scientific level of it.This paper conducts comprehensive analysis of research literature on professional ethics of university and college teachers in the past decade. Combining practical investigation, it judges the scientific level of their professional ethics education at current stage. On that basis, this paper further clarifies the connotation and extension, basic standards, main characteristics, basic rules and principles of scientific professional ethics of teachers. After that, six basic strategies are put forward to improve the scientific level of university and college teachers’ professional ethics, including goal leading strategy, multiple subject strategy, content optimizing strategy, multidimensional carrier strategy, environmental influence strategy, and appropriate care strategy. Five guarantee conditions are also come up with. Therefore, this paper offers theoretical references for the future scientific development of university and college teachers’ professional ethics.
