In the traditional English teaching, it is an important task for teachers todesign a good lesson plan, in which teaching aims, teaching difficult andimportant points, teaching methods, teaching procedures and so on are clearlypresented. However, all these are designed from the perspective of teachers,who organize the teaching process as planned in the lesson plan. Students areexpected to listen carefully throughout the class passively, which makes theteaching efficiency low.Learning plan is just students’ learning programme in contrast withteachers’ teaching plan (Cui Jibo,1999). It is carefully designed by teachersaccording to the textbooks and levels of the students. And the method oflearning plan teaching is that students first learn, teachers then teach andstudents are involved in inquiry and cooperation work to complete teachingtasks consisting of several steps. Finally, there is a feedback and evaluationfor the students and teachers to check. Therefore, in this thesis the author putsforward English learning plan teaching, and the author does lots of researchin designing learning plan based on Constructivism Theory and the conceptof the standard of “the new courses”. By practicing learning plan teaching,we hope to help students’ mental and intellectual growth and their acquisitionof English and develop students’ cooperation and creation awareness andtheir ability to put what they learn into practice. It attempts to change thestudents from passive ones into actives and to improve the students’ learning scores as well as their initiative.In this survey, No1Middle School in Linhe, is chosen as a case study,aiming to know about the application of learning plan in senior high school,by which the author can get to learn about positive influence learning planteaching on the English learning in this school. Meanwhile, some problemsare also discovered by some students and teachers while using learning planmethod. By means of questionnaires and tests,116senior high students ofGrade2011were involved in the investigation. According to the results of theinvestigation, using learning plan can have a positive influence on students’English learning.In the experimental class, the teachers apply learning plan teaching. Andin the controlled class, the conventional teaching is used. After nearly a yearof experiments and research, according to the data from the analysis of thequestionnaires and test scores, I draw a conclusion, that is, the scores andlearning initiative of experimental class are obviously higher than thecomparative class which is not taught by the learning plan teaching method.So this result shows the learning plan teaching can improve students’ learningscores and also promote their learning initiative.
