With the development of our country’s economy, all kinds of large and complexproject will gradually increase. People pay close attention to building in safety problems inthe process of operation. Especially large bridge construction have been completed and putinto use. In recent years the bridge deformation monitoring has become a hot spot. Bridgedeformation monitoring provides the most real and direct information in morph for bridgesafety.At the same time it provides basic data for bridge design and safety maintenance.Combined with GPS technology which has been widely used,the establishment of bridgemonitoring system based on GPS is important.This paper presents the deformation monitoring principle of GPS and its applicationin bridge engineering with a deformation monitoring instance named Donghai Bridge. Ithas verified the feasibility of GPS technology applicate in bridge monitoring.And theresearch provide basis for further study in establishing comprehensive safety monitoringsystem by GPS and other sensors,it has great theoretical and realistic significance. In thedeformation monitoring data processing, by using GPSensor software combined withkalman filtering, it verified the kalman filtering has certain rationality and superiority indynamic deformation monitoring data processing. In addition, this paper also carries on theforecast to the monitoring point, and the GM model are compared to be proved the GPStechnology is stable and reliable in monitoring deformation of bridge engineeringBridge deformation observation is an important branch of building deformationobservation, is also the focus and hotspot in the research of the surveying and mappingengineering.The geographical position of bridge and its role in the life which determine thebridge deformation observation has its own characteristic and decide the particularity of itsdeformation observation system. By combining examples discussed based on theestablishment of bridge deformation observation system based on GPS, the paper putsforward to some opinions in the application process.
