The ground motion parameter research has been attracted all the time byresearchers in the world, especially ground motion attenuation relation,which isnot only provide important basis for seismic risk analysis and the ground motionparameter zoning, but also plays an important role in seismic design of structures,and urban earthquake prevention and disaster reduction research. The latest boringdata and strong motion records in the western United States are collected in thispaper,and the strong motion records with boring data are also classified by thecriterion in the Code for Seismic Design of Building (GB50011-2010) in China,theattenuation relations of the ground motion parameter are established by simulatingbased on strong motion records, which is suitable for China. The content mainlyincludes:(1)In this paper,1208strong motion records which includes the magnitudesrange between M3.5and6.5are collected from1631strong motion records in thewestern United States,the horizontal and vertical PGA attenuation relations in sitescategory Ⅰ、 Ⅱ and Ⅲ are obtained and its’ characters are also analyzed. Comparedwith others’ attenuation relation of the rock sites, it will be found that thehorizontal and vertical PGA attenuation curve in site category Ⅰshall be in basicaccordance with others’ results. So as long as category of site is the same,studyingthe ground motion parameter is feasible by using strong motion records in differentareas. The attenuation relations we obtained provide basis for estimation of thedesign PGA on various sites in china.(2)When attenuation relation of response spectrum were studied in thispaper,characteristic periods were introduced in the attenuation model, fittingattenuation relation coefficient of39periods response spectrum which from0.04second to15second,and then influence factor of attenuation relation on responsespectrum were studied, such as: site conditions, magnitude, distance anddirectivity.(3)672strong motion records in the western United States were made use forstudying horizontal and vertical peak ratio characteristics in sites category Ⅰ、Ⅱ andⅢ,at the same time,1208strong earthquake records in the western UnitedStates were made use for statistic analysis the characteristic of PGV/PGA,the3d spatial relationship in sites category Ⅰ、 Ⅱ and Ⅲ were analyzedthrough theestablishment of three-dimensional coordinates.(4)In this paper,design response spectrum shape which is a new fivesections is put forward,design response spectrum in the short period T (0-0.04s) isa level platform that is suggested based on current Seismic Design Code,meanwhile,the influence of the site conditions and earthquake mechanism aretaken fully into account for short period design response spectrum.
