Abstract:The Habuqihanshala copper deposit of Xinjiang is located in Kazakhstan-Junggar plate, where the geological structure is complex, the fault richly grows, and magmatic activities and metamorphism widely distribute. There is a great prospecting potential. Petrogeochemistry data of this area, combined with field investigation, is analysed with traditional statistical method, cumulative frequency method, multivariate statistical method and metallogenic energy method, in order to delineate prospecting targets.When the distribution characteristics of geochemical elements data don’t completely obey normal or lognormal distribution, it is more reasonable to find out the anomaly threshold or area by cumulative frequency method rather than by traditional statistical method, and the former one is more efficient than the latter for delineating the weak anomalies.The results of correlation analysis show that Cu is related with Ag well, and Ag is a good indicator for Cu mineralization. The ore-forming elements and the associated elements can be divided into five groups, including Zn-Pb-Ag-As-Sb, Fe-Mn-Sn, W-Mo, Cu and Au under cluster analysis. Four element combinations, Zn-Pb-Ag-As-Sb, Fe-Mn-Sn, W-Mo, Cu-Ag-Au,can be obtained by factor analysis. The element combination of Zn-Pb-Ag-As-Sb shows that Pb-Zn-Ag mineralization is the main stage, the W-Mo combination indicates that W and Mo are main stage of hydrothermal mineralization, the element combination of Cu-Ag-Au reflects that the Cu mineralization had contemporaneous and homologous characteristics with polymetallic sulphides. These element associations may reflect three different mineralization stages. Ag is occurred in both two factors, indicating that it is the results of superposition of multi-stage mineralization.Adopting metallogenic energy method extracts composite anomaly, combined with geological conditions, prospect areas are determined. B-1of the survey area can be the lead-zinc prospecting target. A-1and A-2of the survey area can be considered the major area of Copper poly metallic ore. B-2of the survey area can be the priority prospecting area to search wolfram-molybdenum ore.
