As the belt conveyor has large transport capacity with low-input, it becomes themain means of transport in all sizes of coal production.The belt conveyance is safe, reliable and critical to the coal production ofhigh-productivity and high-efficiency. However, it often shows faults such as slippingdeviation, running deviation, longitudinal rip. The traditional mode of the transport haslow efficiency, high failure rate and slow response. It can no longer meet the needs ofdevelopment. The centralized control system is for protecting belt conveyor fromfailures. It centralized controls, monitors and manages the parameters of the transportprocess and production environment. It can get data of the belt conveyance system andbe available for staffs and managers to make production operations, analyses anddecisions that improves the efficiency, safety and reliability of coal production greatly.Based on the background of the Taiping Coal Mine, the issue which is combinedwith the field conditions and the functional requirement of the system is for protectingand controlling the belt transport of the mine. As the control core of the design, PLCcombines with configuration software to be the important part of the monitor system. Itmainly targets the failure protections for slipping, running deviation, smoke, ripping,temperature, coal heaping and centralized control and monitoring the system operatingconditions, environment parameters, device status real-time by PLC and configurationsoftware. And based on fuzzy control, we make frequency control for the belt conveyor.We chose SIEMENS’ S7-300to establish a control master. It operates beltconveyors, sensors and equipments by controlling sub-stations which are built withexpansion module IM153-4and S7-1200. Design the man-machine interface of the hostcomputer with control modes such as centralized control, local control and flow controlby SIEMENS’ WinCC. At the same time, through sensors’ feedback information, it canmonitor the system on-line real-time remotely. And it makes up for the deficiencies ofthe traditional relay control, enhanced system security and reliability, and is easy foroperation and post-maintenance, and become unattended.After put into production, the system does protect and control the Taiping coalmine belt conveyance system and achieve the desired goal.
