Land use change is a concentrated expression of the human social activities, andclosely related to the the land ecosystem structure and function. With the expansion ofthe scope of human activity and activity intensity increase, the land resourcesincreasingly scarce, we should enhance our capacity for exploiting marine resources, developing the marine economy, protecting the marine ecological environment. Theisland as an important cornerstone of the preservation of the Eco-development ofmarine economy, studying island land use change and its ecological carrying capacityhas an important role in academic and practical significance. This article chooses Nan’ao Island as research subjects, extracting1989,2001and2010land use information based on RS and GIS. And then analysis the land useinformation and landscape pattern nearly20years. Based on the improved ecologicalfootprint model to estimate the ecological footprint of Nan’ao Island in1989,2001and2010. And then using ecological carrying capacity model to evaluate theecological carrying capacity of Nan’ao Island. Finally, applying SPSS soft to analysisthe response relationship of land use change and ecological carrying.Main results as follows:(1) Establishing Nan’ao Island land use database of1989,2001and2010throughthe interpretation of remote sensing images.(2) The land use change of Nan’ao Island nearly20years. The result shows thatthe greatest change is the bare land and woodland, respectively for the71.17%and68.03%; The largest dynamic change is bare land, woodland and construction land; The Shannon entropy drops from1.22in1989to1.01in2010; The most land useintensity is bare land; The land type conversion is frequently, where arable land andconstruction land are62%、61%, and the degree of landscape fragmentation and theirregular patch shape are increasing.(3) Based on the improved ecological footprint model to assessment theecological carrying capacity. Ecological footprint per capita growth0.6165hm2,andthe growth of0.4365hm2for fossil energy, and0.0042hm2for construction using;Ecological footprint per thousand yuan GDP drops0.68hm2;Ecological capacity percapita growth0.1870hm2,but ecological deficit tends to increase. The ecologicalcoordination quotiety is better, but not stable enough.(4) Fitting a linear regression equation between land use change and ecologicalcarrying capacity, it finds that the changes between the two have the same trend, andland use change on ecological carrying capacity has a role in promoting. The above study achievements have an actual meaning on the development goalsof the Ecological Island, Shanhai City of Nan’ao island building, and provide thescientific according to the sustainable development and other ecological environmentprotection of other uninhabited islands land resources utilization.
