| The history of twist drill has been one hundred years. At present, it is the most widelyused drilling tool. In recent years, the study of twist drill attracts more and more foreignexpertsã€academics and government’s attention.Flank wear of a twist drill effects the hole quality directly. Usually, the flank wearreveals after machining a period of time. Motion simulation is a prospective approach topredict the flank wear in the drilling process. To this end, a three-dimensional simulationsoftware which could model the drilling process is implemented. The ideas is as follows:first,simulated the standard twist drill ’s three-dimensional modelï¼›then simulated theinterference phenomenon of the twist drill’s tool flank in the drilling processï¼›finally entered aset of structural parameters of twist drill to the designed three-dimensional simulation modelfor simulation verification. Through that could detect the interference beforemass-production,thus greatly improved the product efficiency. This article also used the twistdrill’s the three-dimensional simulation model to carry out some practical applications, suchas measuring the standard twist’s angle, predicting the tail phenomenon of twist Drill’s flankand so on. Validity of the software is verified by practical examples. Experiment results alsoexhibit that this procedure is particular valuable for test-run of new products beforemass-production. |
