The condition of work and living environment is improved with the progress ofhuman society, and the time of sitting gets longer and longer. Seat provides theessential support to keep the position of human. Due to the prolonged seating, peoplewill feel exhausted and anxious. As a result, not only the work efficiency can bereduced, but the health of people will be affected seriously. With the on-going time,the uncomfortable feeling will be strengthened. In the worst conditions, some injuriesor diseases might occur, such as lumbago and cumulative trauma.In order to improve the industrial design and performance of seat, a lot ofresearches related seat comfort have been carried out. Most studies focus on postureadjustment and the distribution of pressure loading, but the temperature and humiditybetween the body-seat surface is another important factor to the seat comfort.In this thesis, an objective evaluation method of the seat comfort based on thetemperature and humidity characteristics of seat surface is proposed. The acquisitionsystem of temperature and humidity based on the sensor of high accuracy is designed.The data is acquired in real-time and the data is saved in hard drive disk in real time.With the help of the data feature analysis algorithm, the location and number ofsensors is optimized to achieve the best result.Finally, the seat comfort is evaluated objectively using BP neural network toaccomplish the experiment of acquiring temperature and humidity information andthe investigation. This experiment is designed to provide the training data and theinput and output variables for the BP neural network. After the training of BP neuralnetwork, the consistency of seat comfort through subjective questionnaire andobjective evaluation is compared based on the experiment results. The objectivetemperature and humidity information can achieve reliable results in the aspect ofseat comfort evaluation.
