Hubei Tonglvshan mine is a big storage of copper and iron in China which combines strip miningunderground mining. In recent years, the continuous mining of Tonglvshan has reached-425m underground where the properties of ore have changed significantly. In this work, polymetallic chalcopyrite from Tonglvshan mine was investigated and feasible scheme for ore separation was developed. In addition, the interaction between chalcopyrite and MOS-2which acts as collector was study in this work, and the results provide some guiding significance on the practices.The results of process mineralogy indicate that copper, iron, gold, and silver are recyclable metal in the ore. The main form of copper is copper sulfide which content is93.62%, most of them is chalcopyrite, followed by bornite and chalcocite. The form of chalcopyrite is granular aggregate, besides, allotriomorphic granular chalcopyrite which is distributed with uneven size from0.06mm to2.5mm is also found in the gangue.The flotation condition test results show that when the grinding fineness-200mesh accounts for69.68%, MB25g/t and MOS-275g/t as collecting agent, and2#oil50g/t as foaming agent, the copper flotation is the best. Adding Na2S increases the recovery rate of copper in the open circuit experiment while decreases the recovery in the closed circuit experiment. Because of that, we don’t add it in.The process flow test results show that both the midding product regrinding and the stage grinding can increases the recovery rate of copper. Under the same results, the midding product regrinding is easier, cheaper and better than the stage grinding. So we confirm the final flotation project which is one rougher flotation-one selection-two scavenging flotation. The flotation grinding fineness is that-200mesh accounts for69.68%. In the flotation test, collecting agent is MB and MOS-2. The dosage of MB and MOS-2is 75g/t and25g/t. The foaming agent of the flotation is2#oil, the dosage of which is50g/t. The technological process is that the middlings return after regrinding. The grinding fineness of the middlings is that-0.074mm accounts for88%. Finally, the mixed concentrate contains Cu21.59%, Au10.58g/t, Ag80g/t, and Cu recovery is94.98%, Au recovery rate of79.57%, Ag recovery of73.69%.In this work, the adsorption mechanism of collector MOS-2on chalcopyrite was focused for the pure mineral flotation. The results indicate that chemisorption contributes most of the MOS-2adsorption on chalcopyrite, although there is physisorption. The results also show that the flotation of chalcopyrite with MOS-2is good in the pH range of2to12, and there is a peak at the pH8.37. The electrical potential test tells that the point of zero change of chalcopyrite is at pH3. After the interaction with MOS-2, the electrical potential of chalcopyrite has a negative shift, indicates that MOS-2is the anionic collector.
