With the development of the national economy, the plate industry is faced with more challenges and opportunities. There are so much higher and more stringent requirements for the plate industry. So how to improve the quality of the plate product and how to increase the technology of plate production and the level of automation have practical significance. This paper, research and application of Plate rolling tracking and automatic rolling, is in the background of3000mm dual rack plate mill automation and control systems upgrade project in Wu Han Iron and Steel corporation. Based on some relative references from domestic and abroad, research and develop the rolling tracking and automatic rolling system in the production process. On-site tests show that it has a good controlling result. The main research contents are as follows:(1) First of all, introduced the plate rolling mill automation system comprehensively. The author sums up the causes and laws of plate thickness variation through the study on various AGC models. Through analyzing various AGC models and by comparing the advantages、disadvantages and practicability between the relative AGC and the absolute AGC, the author choose the absolute thickness control scheme and build the absolute AGC control model.(2) Rolling track is the basis to achieve automatic control and it is divided into rolling macro-tracking and rolling micro-tracking, through the study on tracking communications software and equipment in-depth, rolling macro-tracking and micro-tracking platform is built. By dividing the tracking areas, designing the tracking model and marking the rolling plates, the computer can realize the function of controlling the production process overall and it can provide real-time information for the delivery of the rolling and automatic rolling process at the same time.(3) Coordinate the automatic control on vertical and horizontal two directions of rolling to realize the function of automatic rolling, through analysis and research on the key function of automatic rolling such as the transport of billet, times setting, host control and the slab temperature control, automatic rolling program is made. According to the setup data from L2, combing with the pressure system, the automatic of the manipulator, the host control and the automatically adjust of rolling gaps to achieve the automatic reversible rolling process of plate.(4) Combining the rolling micro-tracking, automatic transport function and the sensor signal simulation can simulate the rolling process of plate. Based on the signal sequence and trigger conditions of hot metal detector, rolling force and the thermometer that come from running plates, change the status of the rolling and the rolling mill will control the automatic rolling process according to the new status.(5) On-site debugging results show that the improved automatic rolling mill control system work stably, through the analysis on the thickness precision of the measured data, product performance index can reach the expected demand and adapt to the actual production better, the control precision can meet the production requirements.
