Lockers are widely used in public places.Traditional lockers are to be improved in safety, convenience and the convenience of management and so on. With the development of electronic technology, electronic lockers have come to our usual life.Electronic lockers used in large supermarkets and other places are most designed to use the barcodeas as the key. This design has defect in security, while not environmentally friendly. In addition the system does not record data to ensure items will not be impersonator.More secure fingerprinting type lockers are too costly, and is difficult for large-scale promotion in the foreseeable future. The innovations of lockers began in logistics field. In order to reduce the last mile transport costs, many big companies abroad have invested in research and development of more secure and convenient lockers. The development of internet technology and The popularize of Internet of Things provides us a guideline for design of new lockers. The security risks of Traditional lockers is that the key is easily copied. And the system keeps no record,so it can’t be verified afterwards. With The aid of IOT, we can access lockers to the internet. The locker manager can control the lockers easily. For different scenarios, the factors to consider in the design of new lockers are quite different. For the lockers placed outside used by the logistics company we should focus on the firmness. This article is based on the school library for the application scenario. The library is an important study place of the university. Student have demand to deposit package. Theft often occurs when using the traditional lockers. In addition the locker resources are limited. In response to the government call for the popularize of information technology in the university, the paper combines networking technology, RFID technology and embedded technology to design a safe, convenient and suitable lockers system for school. Currently the system has been put into use in the libraries of Shandong University. The greatest feature of this system is the high security, easy to use and easy to manage. As the IC Card has been widely used in schools, it is the most natural choice to use the card as a key. Therefore lockers are equipped with RF card reader. To improve security, a password authentication module is added to the system. Each card has a password, the user need to enters a valid password to unlock the locker. Thus, even if the card is lost users need not worry. The system is also equipped with infrared sensors in each cabinet to detect whether items are placed in it. The status of each cabinet are sent to server every several minutes. Users can reserve a cabinet on line.Manangers can control each cabinet remotely. The state of lockers are perceived in real time, it also improves the efficiency of the cabinet. This paper presents the design of the new locker system mainly in two aspects, hardware and software. The hardware part includes lockers controller module, RFID reader module and embedded gateway module. The controller module is responsible for the execution of server-side commands and locker status detection.RFID reader module is responsible for reading the campus card.Embedded gateway is responsible for converting the upper and lower layer communication protocols. Software part includes a controller module, embedded gateway program and upper management site.
