Objective: To investigate the changes of adult patients’oral health related qualityof life(OHQoL)following orthodontic treatment goal setting.Methods:400randomly selected patients,140males(average25±0.7years)and260females(average26±0.4years),who have no severe systemic and periodontal disease,following orthodontic treatment were asked to complete the questionnaire before andafter treatment.patients in the clinic and completed independently, reclaim effectivequestionnaire360recycling rate of90%. To the SPSS11.5on the data for statisticalanalysis, Paired t-test were performed to evaluate the OHIP scores from orthodontictreatment before and after, in different sex, age and educational level and marital statusof the orthodontic treatment goal setting influence on quality of life using chi-squaretest, P<0.05there is a significant difference, with statistical significance.Results: OHIP scores of post-treatment were significantly lower than scores ofpretreatment(P<0.05). Especially in the functional limitations, psychological discomfort,psychological disability and social disability have a significant improvement; raise thelife quality of adultpatients.Impact on quality of life on orthodontic treatment goalsetting among adult patients with various ages and gender,marital status was differentsignificantly(P<0.05). Goal setting influence on quality of life of over25years are moreobvious, female patients more obvious than male patients, unmarried patients than inmarried patients significantly, the level of education on the quality of life have nosignificant differenceConclusion: Orthodontic treatment raise the oral health related quality of life ofadult patients,but Goal setting should be considered in patients with different culturalbackground to meet different needs.
