Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy on SiniZhizhuDecoctionin treating constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C) due toliver-depression and spleen-deficiency, and try to discuss deeply the etiology andpathogenesis of constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome and clarify the efficacyand mechanism of Sini Zhizhu Decoction From the two aspects of theory of TCM and clinicaltreatment.Methods: All the cases were randomly divided into the experiment group and thecontrol group. Both the two groups will be given general foundational treatment whichcontains psychological Instruction,reasonable habit of eating and life,more exercises andso on.And the experiment group will also be given Sini Zhizhu Decoction and the control groupwill also be given Fusong Powder(Macrogol4000powder for oral solution).Both thecourse of treatment sustains4weeks, and a total observation is1course. we will comparethe results before and after the treatment and pay a visit to the patient1month later of thetreatment.Results: The experiment group is superior to the control group to improve the singlesymptom integral(in addition to the constipation and abdominal pain),the total symptomintegral,the comprehensive curative effect and the prostective efficacy of the patients(P<0.01or P<0.05). The total effective rate and the total effective rate1month later of thetreatment of the experiment group is93.3%and70.0%.The total effective rate and the totaleffective rate1month later of the treatment of the control group is73.4%and46.7%. The markedly effective rate and the markedly effective rate1month later of the treatmentof the experiment group is93.3%%and63.3%.The markedly effective rate and themarkedly effective rate1month later of the treatment of the control group is60%and26.7%. Untoward effects hadnot occurred in the process of treatment of the two groups.Conclusion: Sini Zhizhu Decoction can obviously improve the clinical symptoms ofconstipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-C)due to liver-depression andspleen-deficiency and can benefit the patients to get a better prostective efficacy.Theefficacy and mechanism of Sini Zhizhu Decoction in treating IBS-C due to liver-depression andspleen-deficiency maybe in connection with the function of promoting the gastrointestinaldynamics, alleviating stomach cramps, sedative effect, anti-inflammatory effect,analgesia,enhance immunity and so on.
