Safety And Effect Of Two Different Closure Device In Interventional Therapy Of Patent Ducts Arteriosus

Objective:To probe the effect of Amplatzer occluder and Coil occluder in treatment of Patent Ductus Arteriosus closure (PDA) by comparison.To do follow-up investigations of patients with PDA after transcatheter closure,assess the clinical results and complications. Methods:Follow-up date were analyzed in504PDA patients [108males,(9.6±7.2) years] underwent transcatheter closure in Shandong Provincial Hospital from June2002to December2012. Among all the caseS,Amplatzer occluders were used in407patients, Coil occluders were used in89patients.Routine follow-up including electrocardiogram,echocardiography and X-ray were made at1,3,6,12months post transcatheter closure and followed at12months interval thereafter.And then to sdudy on the clinical date,electrocardiogram,echocardiogram,cardiovascular imaging and follow-up results. Result:Procedure was successful in399patients[98.28%] by using Amplatzer occluders, there was no death during follow up.In the end of follow-up investigations, there were still2patients with mild residual shunt.4cases tricuspid insufficiency developed after transcatheter closure,all cases were mild insufficiency with no treatment.5patients[1.23%] suffered with mechanical hemolysis,all got back to nomal after conservative medical therapy.2patients suffered with thrombocytopenia,all got back to nomal after platelet transfusion and corticosteroid therapy.Embolization of the device occurred in1patient,and then surgical treatment was successful.Procedure was successful in89patients[100%] by using Coil occlusion, there was no death during follow up.In the end of follow-up investigations,407patients were completely closed without residual shunts.Thrombo-embolism of femoral artery occurred in1patient who was relieved after thrombolytic therapy.Conclusion:Transcatheter closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus closure (PDA) with Amplatzer occluder and Coil occluder is a safe and effective procedure.The indication and the operation specification should be mastered strictly,which is the key to increase the success rate and decrease operative complications.
